Vintage is a perfect 3-0 against Montgomery since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Crushers will host the Vikings at 11:00 a.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Vintage is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past American Canyon 13-2 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Crushers in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won seven in a row.
Soren DeYoung looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, John Bullock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Riley Marek was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Vintage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Montgomery and St. Vincent de Paul have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Mustangs. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
Greyson Gariss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryder Dienhart, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Montgomery: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chace Russell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Montgomery now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Vintage, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything went Vintage's way against Montgomery in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as Vintage made off with a 10-4 win. Do the Crushers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
