The Danbury Hatters will be playing in front of their home fans against the Staples Wreckers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The third road contest was the charm for Danbury, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took down Westhill 38-20 on Saturday.
John Bardin went supernova for Danbury, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 85 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Jake OKeefe, who threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Staples had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against Stamford by a score of 21-10. Given Staples' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Stamford is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Caleb Smith, who rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
Danbury's victory bumped their record up to 3-3. As for Staples, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-1.
Danbury suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Staples when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Danbury have more luck at home instead of on the road?
