Basketball Recap: Legacy Comes Up Short

Legacy lost against Mead back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Legacy Lightning fell just short of the Mead Mavericks by a score of 53-50. The Lightning have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Legacy still got an impressive performance from Olivia Mortensen, who went 11 of 20 en route to 33 points along with eight boards and six steals. Mortensen's evening made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Martin, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points.

Mead got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madi Clark out in front who went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points. Clark continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Darby Haley was another key player, going 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points.

Legacy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Mead, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Legacy will square off against Fairview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairview will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Legacy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mead, they will challenge Silver Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mead is facing Silver Creek at the right time seeing as Silver Creek is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
