Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. Aptos

Mountain View is 3-0 against Aptos since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mountain View Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Aptos Mariners at 10:00 a.m. Mountain View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

Last Saturday, Mountain View beat Hollister 3-1. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Haybalers are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain View hit Hollister with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sydney Johnson, Alex Markova, and Charlotte Higgins.

Meanwhile, Aptos came up short against Los Gatos last Thursday and fell 3-1. The Mariners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Aptos, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Mountain View's way against Aptos in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, as Mountain View made off with a 4-1 victory. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Aptos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
