Windber is 9-1 against Meyersdale since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Windber Ramblers will head out on the road to challenge the Meyersdale Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Windber focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Thursday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 8 on the offensive boards, a fact Windber proved. They secured a 56-50 W over Blacklick Valley. The win made it back-to-back wins for Windber.
Windber's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariah Andrews, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Andrews hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Angel James was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Meyersdale, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-25 loss to Northern on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Meyersdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 526th in Pennsylvania, while Northern is ranked 112th in Maryland).
The losing side was boosted by Laurel Daniels, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Windber has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Meyersdale, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Windber against Meyersdale in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 59-19 win. With Windber ahead 31-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
