Piner is 2-8 against Sonoma Valley since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Piner Prospectors are on the road again and play against the Sonoma Valley Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Piner beat St. Vincent de Paul 37-32.
Piner relied on the efforts of Betzie Hernandez , who scored 13 points, and Julia Almaraz , who scored 13 points. The game was Hernandez 's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Sonoma Valley didn't have too much trouble with Archie Williams at home on Tuesday as they won 40-22. The victory was just what Sonoma Valley needed coming off of a 57-33 loss in their prior match.
Piner is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Sonoma Valley, their victory was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.
Piner was dealt a bruising 55-16 defeat at the hands of Sonoma Valley in their previous matchup back in January. Can Piner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
