The East Central Trojans will face off against the Mt. Vernon Marauders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. East Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
East Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Lawrenceburg as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Cole Reynolds, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Lawrenceburg off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brayeden Reis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Chase Marsh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Mt. Vernon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Yorktown 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Jaxsen Demos looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Mt. Vernon is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 10-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Mason Meyer was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gavin Weaver, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for East Central, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. East Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mt. Vernon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
