Sage Creek is 9-1 against El Camino since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bobcats will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Saturday, Sage Creek needed a bit of extra time to put away Mt. Carmel. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sundevils, sneaking past 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Sean Saiki was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Elijah Stephens was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, El Camino entered their tilt with Mission Hills on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Grizzlies. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.
Zane Nordquist was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Isaiah Saldivar was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charlie Orman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sage Creek's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.4 runs across that stretch. As for El Camino, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12.
Sage Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against El Camino in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
