Flintridge Prep entered their tilt with Polytechnic on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Tuesday.

Will Grable made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Gavin Fong was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Flintridge Prep is undefeated when Fong posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise.

Flintridge Prep pushed their record up to 9-13 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Polytechnic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

Flintridge Prep and Polytechnic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Wolves will square off against Monrovia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (683 vs. 193). Meanwhile, Polytechnic (ranked 875th) will meet Alhambra (ranked 412th) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
