Masterman entered their tilt with the Frankford Pioneers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Masterman managed a 39-34 victory over Frankford on Monday. For Masterman, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 defeat Frankford walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.
Jocelyn Goldstein had a dynamite game for Masterman, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Goldstein has scored at least 25% of Masterman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Brunelli, who scored five points along with seven steals.
Despite the loss, Frankford still got an impressive performance from Janeliss Laboy, who scored 21 points along with five steals. The matchup was Laboy's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Zanayiah Cross was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Frankford were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Masterman only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Masterman's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. As for Frankford, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Masterman will head out on the road to face off against Science Leadership Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Science Leadership Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Masterman is ranked ninth). As for Frankford, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Olney at 3:15 p.m.
