The Don Lugo Conquistadores's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montclair. While losing is never fun, Don Lugo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while Montclair is ranked 322nd).
Don Lugo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Issabela Medina, who scored four points along with ten rebounds. Medina has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Raquel Bojorquez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Don Lugo's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Montclair, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Don Lugo will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Chino at 12:45 p.m. on January 24th. Chino will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for Montclair, they will face off against Ontario at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Ontario focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday.
