The Upper Moreland Bears fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Bayard Rustin Golden Knights on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 38-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Knights. While losing is never fun, Upper Moreland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Bayard Rustin is ranked 19th).
Bayard Rustin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gia DiMichele, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Stackhouse, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Upper Moreland and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Bayard Rustin, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Upper Moreland will head out on the road to face off against Springfield Township at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bayard Rustin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sun Valley at 6:45 p.m. Sun Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
