The Mission Oak Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Morro Bay Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Saturday, Mission Oak was the victim of a tough 61-39 loss at the hands of Bullard. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mission Oak has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Mission Oak saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isabella Zepeda, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Aiyana Murray, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Morro Bay waltzed into their contest Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Kingsburg 55-13 at home. Considering Morro Bay has won six matches by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mission Oak's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Morro Bay, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Mission Oak didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Morro Bay in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 30-26 victory. Will Mission Oak repeat their success, or does Morro Bay have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
