MaxPreps 2013 California Small Schools All-State Baseball Team

Carlos Salazar of Kerman is the MaxPreps California Small Schools Player of the Year, and it wasn't a difficult choice.

Already named the Gatorade State Player of the Year and the MaxPreps National Small School Player of the Year, Salazar added to his list of worthy credentials by being the highest-drafted small schools player in the state at No. 102 overall.

The hard-throwing senior allowed just one earned run all season while averaging nearly two strikeouts per inning (147 K/74 IP). He was also a threat at the plate, batting .430 with 29 RBIs and three home runs.

Salazar beats out Southern Section Division 6 MVP Morgan Earman of Desert Christian Academy and Head-Royce pitcher Steven Farinaro for the honor.

Small schools all-state players are chosen from schools that compete in enrollment divisions generally below 1,000 students.
