The Saginaw Rough Riders entered their tilt with the Rider Raiders with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Saginaw walked away with a 58-49 win over Rider on Friday. Given Saginaw's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Rider is ranked 649th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rider lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caiden Reed, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. Reed is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Cohee, who scored ten points.
Saginaw has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. As for Rider, they bumped their record down to 7-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Saginaw will head out on the road to face off against Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rider, they will be playing at home against Aledo at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aledo and Rider are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
