Football Recap: Maddox Wells Key Part of Team Effort in Knights Win

Sacred Heart lost to Valley Heights back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Knights came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 26-16. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Sacred Heart's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddox Wells, who threw for 271 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards. Those 271 passing yards gave Wells a new career-high. 89 of Wells' passing yards were hauled in by Dom Matteucci, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The victory got Sacred Heart back to even at 2-2. As for Valley Heights, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart will welcome Sedgwick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Valley Heights, they will host Bennington on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
