Even though the North Hills Indians scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, the St. Joseph Spartans still came out on top. St. Joseph sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 victory over North Hills. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Joseph.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Joseph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julie Spinelli, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Spinelli has scored at least 25% of St. Joseph's points. Another player making a difference was Gia Richter, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds.
St. Joseph's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for North Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will take on Kiski Area at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Hills will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hempfield Area at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th.
