Softball Recap: Alameda Wins Going Away Against Jefferson

Alameda won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pirates put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Alia Gutierrez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Alameda got a massive performance out of Zila Bobian, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Peyton Trujillo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Alameda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.

Alameda is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Alameda will take on Fort Lupton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson, they will square off against Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.33 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
