In what's become a running theme this season, the Oxnard Yellowjackets gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 65-43 margin over San Marcos. Given Oxnard's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while San Marcos is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oxnard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sofia Salgado out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Salgado is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Oliver, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Oxnard has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for San Marcos, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxnard will stay at home for another game and welcome Pacifica at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Pacifica is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for San Marcos, they will be playing at home against Ventura at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ventura is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
