Foothill is 1-8-1 against Chico since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after seven games, but that won't be the case come Tuesday.
Foothill's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Shasta. The three-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Not much got past Blake Schwerdt, who gave up just two hits to keep Shasta off the board.
At the plate, Tyce Tenney was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Chico beat Las Plumas 8-4 on Saturday.
Vinny Boatwright tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Schukei, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Jaxxon Tweedt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Chico, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Foothill has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Foothill couldn't quite get it done against Chico when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
