Volleyball Recap: Gregory-Portland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of three wins, Gregory-Portland's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seguin Matadors. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Matadors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

While Gregory-Portland ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21.

Mia Hernandez was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had nine digs and one assist.

Gregory-Portland's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Seguin, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-14.

Gregory-Portland and Seguin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 360th) will meet Carroll (ranked 793rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Seguin will square off against Lanier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (416 vs. 842).
