Baseball Recap: Lassen Wins Going Away Against River Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McClatchy, Lassen was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the River Valley Falcons 15-1. With that win, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Jaxon George was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lassen is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. George was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zayn Wright was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Tow, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lassen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lassen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for River Valley, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Coming up, Lassen will be taking part in a tournament against Gridley at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. As for River Valley, they will host Del Campo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
