The Middletown Middie Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pine Bush Bushmen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Middletown put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-14 victory over Valley Central on the road. Winning may never get old, but Middletown sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Meanwhile, Pine Bush gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They strolled past Kingston with points to spare, taking the game 35-19. The win was just what Pine Bush needed coming off of a 34-14 loss in their prior contest.
Plexico Brooks went supernova for Pine Bush, rushing for 226 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Emanuel Hannon, who rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Middletown's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Pine Bush, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.
Everything went Middletown's way against Pine Bush when the teams last played two weeks ago as Middletown made off with a 34-14 win. Will Middletown repeat their success, or does Pine Bush have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
