Basketball Recap: Butte Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It was a good run, but Butte Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. 2025 welcomed they with a 58-38 loss courtesy of the Lost River Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 613th in California, while the Raiders are ranked 119th in Oregon).

Butte Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Madison Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Those 15 points gave Wilson a new career-high. Kohen Thomas was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Butte Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Lost River, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Butte Valley will face off against Surprise Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lost River, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against East Linn Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lost River's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so East Linn Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
