Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cactus Shadows). Everything went their way against the St. Mary's Knights on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-4 victory. The win was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Cactus Shadows got a great performance from Megan Hughes as she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Hughes has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Madi Handke and Bailey Fitzmaurice did most of the damage at the plate: Handke scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Fitzmaurice went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Handke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Fossey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
