Dunwoody extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday, bumping them up to 10-3. Everything went their way against the Lovett Lions as they made off with a 13-4 win. Considering the Wildcats have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Anslie Worley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaz McLoughlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alex Deupree, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Dunwoody hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
As for Lovett, they now have a losing record of 4-5. Their loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
On Lovett's side, Riley Gallagher made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Audrey Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Dunwoody wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-2 victory against Lakeside on the 11th. As for Lovett, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-3 defeat against Holy Innocents Episcopal on the 15th.
