On Saturday, The Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Mavericks faced the South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood had to suffer through a rough 56-0 loss at the hands of South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley]. Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Drayson Johnson threw for 162 yards on 19 of 33 attempts. Cris Peppard was his top target, picking up 89 receiving yards. On the ground, Jaren Mattern rushed for 26 yards.
South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] found their leader in underclassman Berkley Frantz, who rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only three passes. Frantz's longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards. Another player making a difference was Connor Kosiak, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley], the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] will be playing in front of their home fans against Hettinger/Scranton on Friday.
