The Bernstein Dragons will take on the Lakeview Charter Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bernstein is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bernstein had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-38 victory over the Titans. Bernstein's win was all the more impressive since Stern was averaging only 28.25 points allowed on the season.
Bernstein's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Valerie Urrutia, who scored 19 points, and Odali Rivera, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Urrutia has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Rojas, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Lakeview Charter beat Lincoln 41-30 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lakeview Charter.
Lakeview Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liliana Word, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and six steals. Word hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Alani Kyles, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Bernstein is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Lakeview Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Bernstein won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Lakeview Charter 53-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Word, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 18 rebounds.
