If the Monessen Greyhounds were feeling good off their 57-32 takedown of the Mapletown Maples last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Monessen took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chartiers-Houston on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Monessen of the 43-23 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
Monessen's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was MyAsia Majors, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Avanti Stitch was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Monessen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Chartiers-Houston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Monessen will take on Westinghouse at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Chartiers-Houston, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Carmichaels at 7:30 p.m. Carmichaels is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
