After three games on the road, Helix is heading back home. They will take on the Granite Hills Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Helix has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Helix can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to Monte Vista for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-20 win on the road. Given Helix's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Monte Vista is ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordyn McMillan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Marquez, who scored nine points along with 18 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Granite Hills scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 74-42 victory over Mount Miguel. That 32 points margin sets a new team best for Granite Hills this season.
It was another big night for Kerstena Tomika, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ajak Agoth, who scored 14 points.
Helix has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Granite Hills, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.
Everything came up roses for Helix against Granite Hills in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 as the team secured a 63-23 victory. Does Helix have another victory up their sleeve, or will Granite Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
