The Sylmar Spartans's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against Canoga Park by a score of 38-25. Given Sylmar's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Hunters are ranked 1202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Vivianna Alvarado, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jayleen Neal, who scored nine points.
Sylmar's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Canoga Park, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Sylmar will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Van Nuys is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Canoga Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
