Roosevelt has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Hoover Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Roosevelt put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Madera South as Roosevelt made off with a 58-35 win. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Stallions are ranked 738th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hoover had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Torres 52-49.
Roosevelt's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-7. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.6 points. As for Hoover, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Roosevelt was able to grind out a solid victory over the Patriots in their previous meeting back in January, winning 48-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roosevelt since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
