Mountain View is 2-8 against South El Monte since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mountain View Vikings will look to defend their home court against the South El Monte Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Mountain View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Mountain View suffered their biggest loss since December 13, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Arroyo, falling 41-14. Mountain View was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 23-2.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-15, which was the final score in South El Monte's tilt against Gabrielino on Friday. While losing is never fun, South El Monte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1019th, while Gabrielino is ranked 376th).
Mountain View has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for South El Monte, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Mountain View lost to South El Monte at home by a decisive 44-27 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Mountain View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
