The Hesperia Christian Patriots will face off against the Big Bear Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Hesperia Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over University Prep. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Luke Beasley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Hesperia Christian: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Beasley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathaniel Renner, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Hesperia Christian is undefeated when Renner posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Israel Torres was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Big Bear hadn't done well against Excelsior Charter recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bears put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-6 win. Considering the Bears have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Hesperia Christian, Big Bear also got a great game from a two-way player: Zen Sisson. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Sisson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chase Wilson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Gilligan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Big Bear now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hesperia Christian, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hesperia Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Big Bear struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hesperia Christian took their win against Big Bear in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
