Basketball Recap: Prospect Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Prospect won the last time they faced Branham and Akeisha McDaid did her part to make sure it happened again. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bruins 50-48 with plenty of help from McDaid, who posted 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Her big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

Precious Powoh was another key player, putting up two points and eight boards. Prospect is 6-1 when Powoh posts eight or more rebounds, but 3-11 otherwise.

Branham lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Taylor Manley, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lori Zhang, who put up six points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Prospect and bumps their season record up to 9-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points over those games. As for Branham, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.

Prospect wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 31-28 defeat against Willow Glen on the 11th. As for Branham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-43 loss against Pioneer on the 6th.
