The Tyrone Golden Eagles's six-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Juniata Valley 42-40. The win was just what Tyrone needed coming off of a 68-24 loss in their prior matchup.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anna Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 37.5% of Juniata Valley's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Watson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Tyrone's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Juniata Valley, they bumped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tyrone will take on Bishop McCort at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McCort presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tyrone in Pennsylvania (Bishop McCort is ranked 17th, while Tyrone is ranked 462nd). As for Juniata Valley, they will play host again and welcome Glendale, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
