St. Anthony has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the St. Paul Swordsmen at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully St. Anthony is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Paul in California (St. Anthony is ranked 25th, while St. Paul is ranked 257th).
On Monday, St. Anthony didn't have too much trouble with San Juan Hills on the road as they won 64-49.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Anthony to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryann Bennett, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Bennett hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Melaiah Joseph, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, St. Paul came up short against St. Mary's Academy on Thursday and fell 60-51. St. Paul has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. Anthony's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for St. Paul, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
St. Anthony suffered a grim 85-65 defeat to St. Paul in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can St. Anthony avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
