He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBI.
York wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Dein, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Big Valley Christian rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 23-1 victory. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Anthony Escobedo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Jackson Howell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Alex Avila was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Big Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Turlock Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Big Valley Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-15-1.
Big Valley Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Turlock Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Big Valley Christian, though, as they've only averaged .200. Will they be able to contain Turlock Christian's hitters?
Turlock Christian took their victory against Big Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
