The Great Oak Wolfpack's's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Clemente on Friday. While losing is never fun, Great Oak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while San Clemente is ranked 136th).
Great Oak's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bri Thomas, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds and five assists, and Cienna Pierce who scored 14 points. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Keira Stout, who scored four points along with ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Great Oak and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for San Clemente, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
Great Oak will head out on the road to face off against Temescal Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Clemente will be home for the holidays to greet Downey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
