Basketball Recap: Marysville's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Marysville was riding high fresh off their 69-25 takedown of River Valley last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marysville Indians took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ponderosa Bruins on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 51-32 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Marysville's loss came despite strong showings from Abigail Pietz and Demi Boykin. Pietz dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Boykin dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Pietz is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. Jorden Hill was another key player, putting up four points.

Marysville's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Ponderosa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Marysville will take on Gridley in a tournament on Wednesday. Marysville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season. As for Ponderosa, they will take on Bret Harte at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
