Basketball Game Preview: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Laurens Raiders

The Woodruff Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge the Laurens Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodruff is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

While Woodruff didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down Mid-Carolina 56-41 on Monday.

Woodruff got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sadie Burnette out in front who went 8 of 15 en route to 23 points and six rebounds. The contest was Burnette's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensyn Turner, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Laurens, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Hillcrest by a score of 54-42 on Tuesday.

Woodruff pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Laurens, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-2.

Woodruff beat Laurens 56-44 in their previous meeting on Wednesday. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Laurens' Nyri Allen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards.
