Softball Recap: Wayne Gets the Win

While Wayne's victory against Plattsmouth wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wayne sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Plattsmouth on Saturday. Wayne has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Plattsmouth, too.

Courtney Roeber was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nyla Bolles, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Wayne hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plattsmouth struck out nine times.

Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Plattsmouth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne will head out to take on Ponca at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Plattsmouth, they will challenge Gross Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
