The Mountain Range Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Northglenn Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Range is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Mountain Range lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Loveland, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Mustangs were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Red Wolves on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly ten runs.
Adriana Vigil made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shawn Lee, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie King, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mountain Range was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while it was Northglenn who put the first runs on the board on Saturday, it was Riverdale Ridge who put up more. The Norsemen came up short against the Ravens, falling 14-4. The Norsemen haven't had much luck with the Ravens recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Like Mountain Range, Northglenn also got a great game from a two-way player: Jocelyn Evans. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs off 11 hits. Evans was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kloe Barela, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Mountain Range and bumps their season record up to 8-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Northglenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Mountain Range might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Northglenn in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
