It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Middle Creek Mustangs can now relate to. The contest between Middle Creek and Laney wasn't particularly close, with Middle Creek falling 27-13. While losing is never fun, Middle Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Laney is ranked 34th).
When it comes to explaining why Middle Creek lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Beatty. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards, and also caught a touchdown.
It was another big night for Tyjhere Crudup, who rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns. Crudup is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Hampton Roderick got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Middle Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Laney, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Middle Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Laney will head out on the road to face off against Apex Friendship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Apex Friendship is on a five-game streak of home wins, Laney a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
