The Marshall Barristers lost against the Franklin Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Marshall received a tough blow as they fell 60-42 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 736th, while the Panthers are ranked 315th).
Despite the loss, Marshall still got an impressive performance from Jeda Taylor, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Taylor is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Giselly Gaona was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Ashley Medina was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Franklin. That makes it six consecutive games in which Medina has scored at least a third of Franklin's points. Another player making a difference was Ariana Pinedo, who scored 11 points.
Marshall dropped their record down to 8-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Franklin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-4.
Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Franklin also has no future games currently scheduled.
