Alex Tavlarides was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jill Samaras and Brynn Huckemeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Samaras went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Huckemeyer went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Samaras has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Colvin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Regis Jesuit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Rock Canyon's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-8. As for Regis Jesuit, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-9.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rock Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Regis Jesuit struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
