Woodlake is 9-1 against Granite Hills since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tigers will welcome the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Woodlake barely beat Wonderful College Prep Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolves a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Uziel Nanez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Brenden Doyle was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Elias Lang, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Woodlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Granite Hills earned a 15-11 victory over Riverdale on Saturday.
Like Woodlake, Granite Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Rhyan Vinson. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Vinson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. Granite Hills is undefeated when Vinson posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Magana, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Granite Hills: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Tyson Duckworth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Granite Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Woodlake, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodlake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Granite Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Woodlake took their win against Granite Hills when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 22-2 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
