After a string of eight wins, the Bishop's Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to Francis Parker 47-41. Bishop's has not had much luck with Francis Parker recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Bishop's saw an underclassman step up: Margo Leong scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and four steals. Leong hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Summer Hu, who scored eight points.
Francis Parker found their leader in underclassman Kaitlyn Raagas, who scored 19 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brieana Brown, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds and six blocks.
Bishop's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Francis Parker, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop's will challenge Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Classical Academy: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Bishop's has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. As for Francis Parker, they will square off against St. Joseph Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Francis Parker is ranked 111th).
