After a string of five wins, Susquenita's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blackhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-40 back in December of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Susquenita lost, don't look at Braelyn Prinz. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points along with eight boards and five steals. Prinz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Kaydon Brandt was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Susquenita smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Dauphin Area only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Upper Dauphin Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Wentzel, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 18 points and eight rebounds. Those 18 points gave Wentzel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasey Weibley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.
Susquenita's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9. As for Upper Dauphin Area, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Millersburg the next time they take the court. Upper Dauphin Area will host Millersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Susquenita will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
