Football Recap: Rossville Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Rossville rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 27-20 victory over the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers. The 27-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Canann Mitchell produced another solid effort rushing for 100 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 163 yards on 14 of 25 attempts. His longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Rossville also got a significant boost from Landen Lewis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rossville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 250 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.

Rossville pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 10-1.

Coming up, Rossville will head out to face off against Jackson Heights on Friday. The Cobras' defense has only allowed 4.6 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. St. Mary's-Colgan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
